CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Chris Henrich (So., Lansdale, Pa.) has been named the ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week following his performance last Saturday at the ACC/Big Ten Clash. The honor is the first career conference wrestler of the week distinction for Henrich. He shares the award this week with NC State’s Darrion Caldwell.
Henrich, currently ranked 14th nationally, had a dominating day at 174 pounds, winning all three of his matches. In his first match, Henrich blanked Wisconsin’s Mike Felling, 7-0. He followed it up with a 15-4 major decision over Illinois’ Ben Friedl and a 13-1 major decision over Michigan State’s John Murphy.
Henrich, who won the Michigan State Open the previous week, improved to 7-0 on the season. He is the first Cavalier to win ACC Wrestler of the Week honors this season and the first since Rocco Caponi on Feb. 12.
Virginia, ranked No. 24 nationally this week, returns to the mat on Sunday at the Journeymen Sprawl and Brawl Duals in Binghamton, N.Y. UVa will take on No. 14 Penn State at 9:45 a.m. and American International College at 1:15 p.m.
