Christensen Selected as National Swimmer of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Mei Christensen (Reston, Va.), a third-year swimmer on the Virginia swimming and diving team, was selected as the national swimmer of the week by CollegeSwimming.com.

Christensen had two individual wins in the double dual with Florida State and Penn State over the weekend, winning the 100 back (54.59) and 200 back (1:56,42, NCAA “B”). Her time in the 200 back also was an Aquatic and Fitness Center pool record, besting Brielle White’s 2002 mark of 1:57.13. She also assisted on two winning relays the 200 freestyle and the 200 medley relay.

Christensen and the Cavalier squads are back in action Dec. 4-6, playing host to the UVa Invitational.
