CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA Offensive tackle Eugene Monroe has been named the Offensive Lineman/End of the Year in the state of Virginia by the Richmond Touchdown Club.
Outside linebacker Clint Sintim is one of three finalists for the Dudley Award, presented annually to the top player in the state based on a vote by a panel of journalists. The other finalists are Virginia Tech cornerback Victor “Macho” Harris and James Madison quarterback Rodney Landers.
One of the top offensive linemen in the country, Monroe received the Jacobs Blocking Trophy this season as the best blocker in the Atlantic Coast Conference as voted on by the league’s head coaches. He was named first-team All-ACC this season for the first time in his career and had the team’s highest grade among offensive linemen in seven of 12 games this season.
Sintim was a second-team All-ACC choice this season. He is the most dominating rush linebacker in the country and leads all linebackers in sacks with an average of 0.92 per game. He is second in the ACC in sacks and eighth in tackles for loss, while averaging 5.8 tackles per game. Sintim’s 13 sacks this season are fifth most in UVa history and the most ever by a linebacker.
In addition to Monroe, three other Division I players have been named the state’s best:

Defensive Lineman Lawrence Sidbury, Jr., DL, Richmond
Defensive Back/Linebacker Victor “Macho” Harris, CB, Virginia Tech
Four players from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA levels have also been selected:
Offensive Back of the Year Josh Simpson, RB, Hampden-Sydney
Offensive Lineman/End of the Year Kevin Wagner, OL, Randolph-Macon
Defensive Lineman DeShaun Parker, DL, Christopher Newport
Defensive Back/Linebacker Isaac Mitchell, LB, Virginia State
The winner of the Dudley Award as well as the eight players named best in the state will be presented at the Dudley Award Banquet Thursday (Dec. 11) in Richmond.
