CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Ariana Moorer earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced Monday. Moorer helped the Cavaliers to a 2-0 week with wins at Illinois and against East Carolina by averaging 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
The freshman had a career night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge against the Fighting Illini on Dec. 4, hauling down a personal best 14 rebounds to go with 18 points for her first career double-double.
She followed up that performance by matching a career-high with 19 points against East Carolina on Dec. 6.
This is the first ACC weekly honor for Moorer.
The Cavaliers will return to the hardwood on Dec. 18, when they face Monmouth at John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
