CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA Virginia defensive standouts Matt Conrath and Ras-I Dowling have been named to postseason squads by CollegeFootballNews.com.
Conrath was named to the CFN All-Freshman Second Team, while Dowling was named to the CFN All-Sophomore Second Team.
Conrath, a redshirt freshman from Chicago, Ill., started all 12 games for the Cavaliers this season and was one of two freshman starters on the defensive line. He made 35 tackles, including seven for loss and three sacks. He is tied for ninth among freshmen nationally in sacks and tied for 12th in tackles for loss. His four sacks are tied for fourth most by a rookie in school history.
Dowling, a second-team All-ACC selection from Chesapeake, Va., led the team in interceptions for the second year in a row with three. He is the first Cavalier to lead the team his first two seasons since Keith McMeans in 1987-88. Dowling also ranked second in the ACC with 11 pass break-ups and averaged 3.9 tackles per game.
