CHARLOTTESVILLEThe Virginia athletics department announced on Tuesday (Dec. 23) that ticket prices for admission to home events for all of its intercollegiate athletics teams will not increase during the 2009-10 athletics year. The prices will remain the same as in 2008-09 in all sports.
Concession prices at all of the Cavaliers’ home venues will also remain the same.
“We appreciate the support of our loyal fans for all of our intercollegiate athletics teams,” said Virginia Director of Athletics Craig Littlepage. “In these difficult economic times, we will not be increasing ticket prices or concession prices for any of our sports during the upcoming athletics year. We will also continue to offer creative ticket package options, such as the family packages we introduced for our men’s and women’s basketball seasons.”
Family Night packages including four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four boxes of popcorn for $48 were offered for four men’s basketball games during the 2008-09 season, with the final game the Hampton game (Dec. 23). More than 1,800 Family Night tickets were sold for Virginia’s game against Auburn on Dec. 20.
Family Days packages for four women’s basketball games include four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $32. The package is available for the women’s basketball team’s game against Wake Forest on Sunday, Jan. 11.
Virginia currently charges admission for home events in nine of its 25 intercollegiate sports. The sports where admission is charged include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball.
