WACO, Texas The Virginia women’s tennis team played its highest ranked opponent of the season thus far, falling to No. 4 Baylor 6-1 Friday night. The loss dropped the Cavaliers’ record to 6-6 on the season.

The highlight for the Cavaliers came at No. 2 singles where Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) upset No. 19 ranked Taylor Ormond 6-3, 6-2. The victory over Ormand marked the highest ranked opponent Stevens has beaten in her career. In doubles, Stevens also teamed with Hampton Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) for an 8-5 win over Karolina Filipiak and Zuzana Chmelarova at No. 3 doubles.

The Bears, who improved to 15-1 on the season, won their 13th consecutive match and 38th consecutive home match.

The Cavaliers conclude their four-match roadtrip on Sunday as they visit No. 15 TCU.
