Pereira and Rales Named to All-ACC Academic Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE A pair of Cavaliers were named to the All-ACC Academic Team conference officials announced Thursday. Senior Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) and junior Amanda Rales (Bethesda, Md.) were among the 21 players named to the team.
Pereira was named to the squad for the first time in her career. She recently graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary-American Studies. This season she had a 17-17 singles record and a 26-10 doubles record. She and Maggie Yahner (Las Vegas, Nev.) were alternates for the NCAA Doubles Championship, ending the season ranked No. 42 nationally.
Rales, a Foreign Affairs major, also earned All-Academic honors for the first time. She was an All-ACC selection after going 6-5 at No. 1 singles in conference play this season. She also earned her first career national singles ranking during the spring.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
