CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia women’s tennis team has announced the addition of Neela Vaez (Perrysburg, Ohio), a transfer from Purdue, to the team. Vaez, who played for the Boilermakers in 2006-07 before sitting out last year, will have three years of eligibility at Virginia.

As a freshman at Purdue, Vaez had a 25-10 singles record and a 21-15 doubles record. She was 14-7 in dual match singles play, including a 9-0 mark at the No. 4 position. In Big Ten play, she was 6-4, playing at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. In doubles, she primarily played at the No. 2 position, posting a 13-8 dual match record.

Vaez joins seven returning players and a class of three first-years on the Cavaliers’ 2008-09 roster.
