Fourth-year forward Lyndra Littles recently checked in with VirginiaSports.com to talk about the team’s upcoming match-up at No. 2 North Carolina and the start of ACC play. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m., and airs live on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network.
Question: How has the team’s preparation been going for the North Carolina game?
Littles: We’ve been preparing the same way we do for any game. We try and familiarize ourselves with their personnel, work hard at practice, get rest. We’re just focusing on the process.
Question: One thing you haven’t done in your career is beat Carolina. Are you on a mission this year?
Littles: As a senior, I guess you always want to try and beat a team that you’ve never beaten. It means a little more knowing it’s your last chance to do it.
Question: You returned to the line-up after missing games during the fall semester. Are you finding your groove?
Littles: You know, I don’t feel like I ever lost my groove. I went through the entire preseason and practices, the only difference was that I wasn’t playing in games. I was working just as hard and getting my shot repetitions, so really it was just game-time minutes that I lost.
Question: How are you enjoying your senior year at UVa?
Littles: Being a senior, I have just been trying to take all the moments in. I’ve been here four years, and I’m ready for the next chapter of my life, but at the same time I want to cherish the rest of my time here. It’s kind of a lose-win situation.
Question: What are your plans after graduation?
Littles: I hope I get drafted by the WNBA and play. Also I’d be interested in playing professionally overseas.
Question: What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Littles: I can cook, and I love to cook. Some of my favorite things to cook would be broiled salmon, fresh collared greens, broiled lobster tail, steak and mashed potatoes.
Question: Is there anything I haven’t asked that you’d like people to know about you?
Littles: I love to laugh and make jokes. I think people look at me and think I look a certain way or that I look mean, but I love to smile and I’m really just a big kid at heart.
