CHARLOTTESVILLE The 14th-ranked Virginia women’s basketball team faces its fifth ranked opponent of the year when it hosts No. 22 Florida State Friday at John Paul Jones Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will air live on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network.
Additionally, the game will be broadcast over the airwaves on the Virginia Sports Network (WINA 1070 AM in Charlottesville) with Jay James, Myron Ripley and Larry Johnson calling the action. Live statistics are available at VirginiaSports.com.
Virginia (15-3, 2-1 ACC) is coming off of a hard-fought victory on the road at Virginia Tech Wednesday night, 75-69. Lyndra Littles led the Cavaliers with 28 points while Monica Wright added 23 points and Aisha Mohammed contributed 12 points and eight rebounds.
Wright continues to lead the ACC in scoring by averaging 22.1 points per game, followed by Littles at 20.2 points per game.
Mohammed, meanwhile, nearly averages a double-double with 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
Florida State (16-4, 4-0 ACC) is coming off of a 10-point victory over Georgia Tech, 59-49, in its last outing on Jan. 18. The Seminoles are led by Jacinta Monroe (13.7 ppg, 7.8 rpg) and Tanae Davis-Cain (11.7 ppg).
The all-time series with Florida State stands at 29-8, with the Cavaliers winning the last two meetings.
Following Friday’s game, Virginia hits the road for an ACC contest at Clemson on Monday, Jan. 26. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
