CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Darren Ankosko was invited Tuesday to compete at the 2009 NCAA Championships, increasing the number of Virginia swimmers to a school-record 13 participants. Ankosko is a former alternate who will swim in the 500 free, 1650 free and the 400 IM.
Ankosko has qualified for his second NCAA Championships. In 2008 he was selected but was unable to participate because of an llness.
The East Brunswick, N.J., native placed fourth in the 400 IM (3:47.13, ‘B’), fifth in the 500 free (4:18.27, ‘B’) and 10th in the 1650 (15:14.04, ‘B’) at the ACC Championships.
The Cavaliers will compete at the NCAA Championships March 26-28 in College Station, Texas.
