CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior Aisha Mohammed (Lagos, Nigeria) has accepted a training camp invitation by the Women’s National Basketball Association’s (WNBA) Minnesota Lynx, the organization recently announced.

Mohammed, a 6-3 center, joins the Lynx after earning honorable mention All-ACC honors during her final season as a Cavalier. In two years at UVa, Mohammed averaged 12.9 points and 9.7 rebounds, and set the school record for rebounds in a game with 21.

She began her career at Central Arizona College, where she was named a first team Kodak/WBCA All-American in 2006. She played for her home country of Nigeria in the 2004 Olympic Games as well as the 2006 FIBA World Championships.

Minnesota opens its 2009 Training Camp on Sunday, May 17 at the Timberwolves/Lynx Practice Facility. The team’s lone exhibition contest will be on Saturday, May 23 vs. Indiana at Claire Lynch Hall on the campus of the College of St. Benedict.
