Nielson Falls in Quarterfinals of TRANS National

Loudon, TN – Virginia junior women’s golfer Calle Nielson advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2009 Women’s TRANS National Golf Championship at Tennessee National Golf Course near Knoxville. Nielson loss to Wake Forest’s Cheyenne Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.) 1-up.
Nielson was the top seed in match play after winning the stroke play portion of the event by five shots.

The Women’s Trans National Golf Association has conducted the TRANS Amateur Championship since its inception in 1927 at various country clubs across the United States who invited TRANS to their course. TRANS is one of the longest consecutively running women’s amateur championships in the country and it continues to draw a strong field of career amateurs and LPGA hopefuls alike. Among its many champions and/or competitors are Brittany Lang, Paige Mackenzie, Nancy Lopez, Lorena Ochoa, Grace Park, Judy Bell, Carol Semple Thompson, Babe Didrikson Zaharias and Patty Berg.
