Rojas and Smart Finish Fifth at Landrey Invitational

Gordonsville, VA – Virginia golfers Steven Rojas and Henry Smart tied for fifth place at Liberty’s Frank Landrey Invitational played at Spring Creek Golf Club. The two Cavaliers finished the 54-hole tournament at 2-over 218. Richmond’s Sam Beach took medalist honors at 3-under 213, helping the Spiders to the team crown.
Smart had rounds of 74, 70 and 72 to post the first top-10 finish of his Cavalier career. His second round score was the lowest 18-hole total during his collegiate career and his 54-hole total bettered his previous mark by two shots.
Rojas carded back-to-back rounds of 72 Monday and shot 74 Tuesday. It marked the second time this fall he has finished in the top five while competing as an individual in a tournament.
UVa’s Cole Willcox was 42nd overall, including a 72 Tuesday. He finished at 13-over 229.
The Cavaliers return to action this weekend when they compete at The Ridges tournament in Johnson City, Tenn.
