CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The No. 7 Virginia baseball team continues its homestand with a three-game ACC series against No. 4 Miami this weekend at Davenport Field. The teams will play at 6 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. All three games will be webcast by ACC Select, while 1070 WINA-AM will have all three games.

UVa (18-0, 4-0) is off to its best start in school history and is riding a school-record 18-game winning streak. That is the longest active win streak in the nation, while the Cavaliers are the only remaining undefeated team in Division I.

The Cavaliers are 4-0 in the ACC for the first time ever. UVa swept its ACC-opening series at Wake Forest two weeks ago before winning one game at home against then-No. 14 Florida State last weekend in a rain-shortened series.

Dan Grovatt (So., Tabernacle, N.J.) leads the Cavaliers and is second in the ACC with a .472 batting average. He currently is riding an 18-game hitting streak this season and a 20-game streak dating to last season.

Virginia leads the ACC in batting (.388) and pitching (1.94 ERA). At the plate, Steven Proscia (.444 fourth), Tyler Cannon (.422 11th) and Jarrett Parker (.400 13th) all rank among the top 15 in the ACC in hitting.

Danny Hultzen (1.04 third) and Andrew Carraway (1.27 fourth) each rank among the ACC’s top five in ERA.

The Cavaliers’ defense also has stepped up of late after a slow start. UVa has ascended to fifth place in the ACC in fielding with a .967 fielding percentage.

Miami is 16-3 overall and 5-1 in the ACC. The Hurricanes are batting .313 as a team (eighth in the ACC) and have a team ERA of 2.86 (fourth in the ACC). Scott Lawson leads the team with a .382 batting average, while David Gutierrez has an ACC-best 0.72 ERA. Miami won two of three last weekend against Duke and also owns an ACC sweep of NC State. The Virginia series will be the Hurricanes’ first ACC road trip this year.

Saturday is Scout Day at Davenport Field, and all children in their scout uniforms will get general admission seating for $4. Sunday is Family Day (four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $32). The $10,000 toss promotion will be held during the Friday and Saturday games, with fans having an opportunity to win $10,000.
