Cavaliers Open Play in Seventh Place at Hootie at Bulls Bay

Charleston, SC – The No. 18 Virginia men’s golf team is in seventh place following Sunday’s opening round of play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Charleston, S.C. The Cavaliers shot 11-over 295. LSU grabbed the early lead by firing 4-over 288 to stand one stroke ahead of Duke.
Virginia senior Kyle Stough led the Cavaliers with a 1-over 72. He is in ninth place after not being able to finish last week’s tournament due to a wrist injury. Will Collins is 16th at 73, Ben Kohles is 21st at 74, Steven Rojas is 42nd at 77 and Amory Davis was 52nd at 79.
A trio of payers, including defending NCAA individual champion Matt Hill of NC State, lead the field at 2-under 69. Wake Forest’s Travis Wadkins and LSU’s Sang Yi also share the lead.
