Cavaliers Start Play at Fall Preview

Bryan, Texas – The 11th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team started its season Monday at the Fall Preview in Bryan, Texas. The Cavaliers shot 13-over 301 to complete the opening round in 15th place. The tournament features 13 of the top 15 ranked teams in the nation.
Virginia was led by a pair of 2-over 74s carded by returning All-Americans Calle Nielson and Brittany Altomare. They finished the first round tied for 30th. Nicole Agnello is in 51st place after shooting 76. Eleana Collins stands 67th with a 77 and Joy Kim is in 83rd place after carding an 80.
Georgia shot 9-under 277 and owns a seven-shot lead after the first 18 holes. Alabama’s Brooke Pancake shot a course-record 7-under 65 to lead all competitors in stroke play.
The second round of the tournament takes place Tuesday and the final round is slated for Wednesday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
