CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia women’s basketball incoming freshman Sarah Imovbioh (Charlottesville, Va.) has been named to the Nigerian U19 National Team, it has been announced. One of 12 members playing in the United States invited to camp, Imovbioh is currently competing in exhibition games in Fougeres and Reze, France.

Imovbioh, a native of Lagos, Nigeria, is a 6-2 forward out of St. Anne’s-Belfield High School in Charlottesville, Va. In May, Imovbioh was named a high school All-American by Parade Magazine.

Imovbioh, ranked No. 15 in the country at her position by HoopGurlz.com, scored 31 points and grabbed 25 rebounds in her final high school game in the VIS Division II state championship game. During her senior season, she averaged 29.0 points and 22.6 rebounds per game.

This is the first time Nigeria has fielded a U19 squad, but the country was successful in the 2010 U18 FIBA Africa Championship in Egypt with a second-place finish.
