Sauerbrunn Named to US Olympic Women's Soccer Team

CHICAGO — Former Virginia women’s soccer player Becky Sauerbrunn (Class of 2007) was one of 18 players named to the United States Olympic Women’s Soccer Team, US Soccer announced Sunday. The team will represent the United States in this summer’s Olympic Games in London.
Sauerbrunn will be making her Olympic debut this year. A member of the United States 2011 Women’s World Cup team, she has made 20 appearances as a defender for the national team since her debut in 2008.
Midfielder Lori Lindsey (Class of 2001) was named as one of four alternates for the team. She was also a member of last year’s Women’s World Cup squad and has made 30 career appearances for the national team.
