Altomare Advances to Match Play at Pub Links

Neshanic Station, N.J. – Virginia senior women’s golfer Brittany Altomare Shrewsbury, Mass.) has advanced to the match play portion of the 2012 United States Women’s Public Links Championship. Altomare posted rounds of 69 and 73 to tie for ninth at 2-under 142 following the 36 holes of stroke play at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J. USC senior Lisa McCloskey of Houston, Texas, won stroke play at 5-under 137.

In 2011 Altomare advanced to the quarterfinals of match play at the WAPL. She was one of 12 players to receive an exemption into this year’s tournament.

The first round of match play, which includes the top 64 players from the 156-golfer field, takes place Wednesday. Match play concludes Saturday.
