Altomare Falls in Round of 16 at U.S. Public Links

Neshanic Station, N.J. – – Virginia senior women’s golfer Brittany Altomare (Shrewsbury, Mass.) won her first match Thursday before being eliminated in the afternoon session at the 2012 United States Women’s Public Links Championship taking place at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.Playing in the round of 32 of match play, Altomare dispatched UCLA senior Tiffany Lua, a member of the USA Curtis Cup team, 3 and 2. In the round of 16 Altomare fell to Annie Park of Levitttown, N.Y., 2 and 1. Park will be a freshman at USC this fall.
Last year Altomare advanced to the quarterfinals of match play at the WAPL.
Altomare will now turn her focus to the U.S. Women’s Open. It marks the third time in four years she has qualified for the USGA’s top championship. This year’s tournament will take place July 5-8 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisc.
Cavalier teammate Briana Mao will also be playing at the event.
