CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team competed in two matches Saturday (Sept.1) in the final day of the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup at Memorial Gymnasium. In the first match, the Cavaliers (3-3) defeated Lehigh, 3-0, before going on to sweep Delaware, 3-0.
“I felt that we had some good points last night (against Western Kentucky), had some good points today, but we still have some things to work on,“ UVa head coach Dennis Hohenshelt said. “For us to go 2-1 this weekend and be at .500, we have a lot of momentum going into next weekend. Today was a good day for Virginia volleyball.”
In the first match, the Cavaliers hit 14 more kills (40-26) and earned eight more blocks (10-2) than the Mountain Hawks on their way to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 win.
