Men's Tennis Continues Play at UVa Fall Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Play at the 11th annual UVa Fall Classic continued Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center with the Cavaliers winning one doubles title and having three players reach singles finals.
Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) won the title in the Blue Doubles draw. The top-seeded Cavalier duo downed Roger Ordeig and Ricardo Pabon of East Tennessee State 8-4 in the semifinals and Hunter Koontz and Aaron Gomez of Virginia Tech 8-4 in the final.
Mitchell Polnet (Churchville, Va.) and Jonathan Cornish (London, England) topped the Coastal Carolina team of Hunter Whalen and Sam Barr 8-2 to reach the Orange Doubles final, but fell to Brice Allanic and Sebastian Lopez of College of Charleston in the championship of that draw.
Uriguen, the top seed in the Orange Singles draw, reached the final after his semifinal opponent had to withdraw dur to injury. Cornish, the No. 4 seed in Gold Singles, advanced to the final with a 6-2, 7-5 semifinal win over Ben Guthrie of William & Mary, that draw’s top seed. Polnet is in the final of Red Singles after a 6-2, 6-4 semifinal win over Hugo Ramadier of James Madison.
