TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—The Virginia volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 12 Florida State, 25-19, 25-11, 25-16, Friday night at Tully Gym in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Cavaliers (7-16, 1-11 ACC) hit .124 with 29 kills, while the Seminoles (20-2, 11-1 ACC) hit .348 with 44 kills.
Freshman Kayla Sears (Moorpark, Calif.) led the team with 11 kills, while junior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) had a team-high 12 digs.
The first set was fairly even with both teams hitting 12 kills, but Florida State held an advantage in kills, 14-6, in the second set.
FSU hit .571 with 18 kills and only two errors in the third set on the way to a 25-16 win.
Florida State was led by Mara Green and Sareena Freeman, who hit .636 and .500 respectively.
The Cavaliers return to action Sunday (Oct. 28) when they face No. 24 Miami at 1 p.m.
