GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia junior swimmer Rachel Naurath has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (Oct. 30).
A native of Manakin-Sabot, Va., Naurath led the Cavaliers to two wins over the weekend, winning five individual events and one relay in the process. In her season-opening meet against Navy on Friday (Oct. 26), the junior earned NCAA B times in the 200 free (1:47.76) and the 200 fly (1:58.30). Against the Midshipmen, Naurath posted the ninth-fastest time in the country in the 200 free, the sixth fastest in the 500 free (4:48.52), and the fourth fastest in the 200 fly. She also anchored the 400 free relay that touched first in 3:26.84.
On Sunday (Oct. 28) against Pitt, she won the 1,000 free in 9:55.43 and followed that with a victory in the 200 free in 1:48.63.
The Cavaliers return to action next weekend when they take on South Carolina at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Charlottesville, Va. Diving action will be split up, beginning on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. All the swimming action will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
