FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Virginia senior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) will look to win his first career major collegiate singles title after advancing to the championship match of the ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Jenkins, the No. 6 seed, advanced to the final with a 6-1, ret., victory over fourth-seeded Henrique Cunha of Duke. Jenkins will meet Sebastian Fanselow of Pepperdine in the final on Sunday. Fanselow upset Virginia’s Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) in the other semifinal, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, handing the tournament’s top seed his first loss of the fall.

Jenkins looks to become the third Cavalier to win the singles title at the event, joining Somdev Devvarman in 2007 and Mitchell Frank last year.

In doubles, the team of Jenkins and Mac Styslinger (Birmingham,Ala.) lost in the semifinals to the second-seeded duo from Duke of Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler, 7-5, 6-2, preventing Jenkins from being both finals on Sunday.
