RALEIGH, N.C.—The Virginia volleyball team dropped a three-set decision at Atlantic Coast Conference opponent NC State, 25-19, 25-16, 25-17, Friday night (Nov. 16) at Reynolds Coliseum in Raliegh, N.C.
The Cavaliers (9-20, 3-15 ACC) hit just .097with 32 kills, while the Wolfpack (21-8, 11-7 ACC) had 36 kills and a .305 hitting percentage.
Freshman Vivian Burcescu (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) hit .500 with eight kills, while senior Jessica O’Shoney (Austin, Texas) led the team with 11 kills. Junior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) recorded a team-high 13 digs.
The Cavaliers closed the Wolfpack lead to 9-8 in the first, but NC State responded with a 8-1 run on the way to a 25-19 win.
In the second set, the Wolfpack held UVa to a .027 hitting percentage in a 25-16 win and hit .368 in the third en route to a 25-17 victory.
Dariyan Hopper led NC State with a 10 kills.
The Cavaliers return to action Saturday (Nov. 17) when they play at North Carolina at 5 p.m.
