CHAPEL Hill, N.C.—The Virginia volleyball team dropped its penultimate match of the season to No. 25 North Carolina, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17, Saturday evening (Nov. 17) before 1,463 at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C.
With the loss, the Cavaliers fell to 9-21 (3-16 ACC), while the Tar Heels improved to 24-5 (15-4 ACC). Virginia hit .119 with 29 kills, but UNC hit .260 with 41 kills.
Senior Jessica O’Shoney (Austin, Texas) and freshman Kayla Sears (Moorpark, Calif.) led the squad with seven kills each.
North Carolina was led by Emily McGee, who had a game-high 13 kills, and Heather Henry, who hit .545 with seven kills.
The Cavaliers close out the 2012 season against Virginia Tech on Nov. 23 in Blacksburg, Va.
