Nine Cavaliers Named to Cross Country All-ACC Academic Teams

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Nine members of the Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams were named to the All-ACC Academic Country Teams, the conference announced Wednesday. The men’s team had six athletes recognized, while the women’s team had three athletes honored.

Mark Amirault (Walpole, Mass.), Zach Gates (Fishers, Ind.), Sean Keveren (Brentwood, Tenn.), Drew Paisley (Virginia Beach, Va.), Thomas Porter (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Jack St. Marie (Westlake, Ohio) were among the 30 men selected to the team. Gates was one of three All-Americans to be honored, while Gates and Porter were among the six All-ACC honorees on the team. Paisley earned the accolade for the second time in his career.

Kathleen Stevens (Blacksburg, Va.), Barbara Strehler (Richmond, Va.) and Catherine White (Roanoke, Va.) were among the 33 women honored. White was one of nine All-ACC honorees who also earned All-ACC Academic recognition, including one of six All-Americans. The honor was the third of Strehler’s career and the second for Stevens.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
