CHRISTIANSBURG, Va.—The Virginia divers completed action on day one of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Friday (March 15) at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va.
“It was a good day to start off the meet,” UVa diving coach Rich MacDonald said. “Getting all four men in the finals was awesome. Hopefully we can get better as the weekend progresses.”
On the men’s 1-meter boards, sophomore JB Kolod placed third with a total score of 675.55, while freshman Carl Buergler was fifth with 606.35 points. Fellow freshmen Colby Shinholser (602.20) and Jordan Sacks (575.80) also qualified for the finals and placed seventh and ninth, respectively.
Freshman Katie Warburg finished ninth on the women’s 3-meter boards with a score of 550.00. Sophomore Laura Gartrell also qualified for the finals and placed 17th with 469.20 points.
Junior Kelly Lloyd just missed the finals field of 18, finishing 19th with 248.90 points, while freshman Becca Corbett (241.75) and junior Carlin Tettelbach (210.15) placed 23rd and 32nd, respectively.
The action continues Saturday (March 16) at noon with the women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter events.
