Cavaliers Conclude First Day of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Virginia women’s swimmers concluded action on day one of the NCAA Championships Thursday (March 21) at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. The Cavaliers have four points through the first day and sit in 26th place.

The 200 free relay of senior Lauren Perdue, juniors Rachel Naurath and Emily Lloyd and sophomore Emily Dicus placed 15th overall in a time of 1:30.67. The same foursome qualified for the consolation final after finishing 13th in 1:29.88 in the morning preliminaries.

Also in the prelims, Naurath placed 20th in the 500 free in a time of 4:42.36, while freshman Hanne Borgersen (4:43.43) was 24th and sophomore Alison Haulsee (4:43.69) was 27th. Borgersen’s time ranks ninth on UVa’s all-time lists.

In the 200 IM, sophomores Ellen Williamson (1:58.14) and Sarah White (1:58.21) finished 23rd and 24th, respectively.

Perdue came in 22nd overall in the 50 free prelims in 22.47.

The action continues Friday (March 22) with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter diving and 800 free relay events being contested.
