Angelinos, Shabaz and Jenkins Earn Career High Rankings

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Three alumni of the Virginia men’s tennis program reached career high singles rankings this week. Ted Angelinos (Class of 2008) moved up to No. 311, Michael Shabaz (Class of 2011) is up to No. 458 and Jarmere Jenkins (Class of 2013) is at No. 614.
Angelinos reached a career-high ranking after reached the quarterfinals of the Challenger event in Segovia, Spain. It marked the first time in his career he reached a quarterfinal on the ATP Challenger Tour.
Shabaz entered the top 500 for the first time in his career after winning the Futures event in Godfrey, Ill., two weeks ago. It was his second Futures Tour title of the summer.
Jenkins continues to move up the rankings following the conclusion of his collegiate career in May. He moved up to No. 614 after reaching the final round of qualifying at the ATP 500 level Citi Open in Washington.
