CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–First-year Virginia swimming and diving head coach Augie Busch announced the Cavaliers’ 2013-14 schedule Wednesday (Aug. 21). UVa will host three meets during the season.

“The coaching staff and I are very excited to start our first season here at UVa,” Busch said. “We are chomping at the bit to get going with training, coaching, and racing. Looking ahead to the schedule, it is full of excellent competition. Our November home meet with Texas, Penn State and WVU will showcase some powerful teams and should go a long way toward preparing us for the Ohio State Invite, a meet that will take on added importance this year.

“Moving forward to the championship season in the spring, I know we will have two teams ready to fight to defend their ACC titles. Then, at NCAA’s in March, I know we will have a strong group of athletes prime to do some damage. It should be fun.”

The Cavaliers, who have won six consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on both the men’s and women’s side, open their slate at Navy on Oct. 25. The UVa and Navy women will also face off against Yale in a double-dual format.

Two weekends later, Virginia will host a quad meet Nov. 8-9 against Penn State, Texas and West Virginia at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. UVa will close out the 2013 portion of the season at the Ohio State Invite, to be held in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 22-24.

The Cavaliers open 2014 with a meet at Virginia Tech on Jan. 17-18 and will also face Harvard (men only), Miami (women only) and Wisconsin (men and women).

Virginia continues with three road meets against ACC competition, including Duke (Jan. 24), North Carolina (Jan. 25) and NC State (Feb. 1).

The Cavaliers will conclude their dual meet season at home against Pittsburgh on Feb. 8 before hosting the Cavalier Invite Feb. 14-15.

UVa’s women will look to repeat as ACC Champions Feb. 19-22, while the men will seek to defend their title Feb. 27-March 1. Both meets will be held in Greensboro, N.C. for the second consecutive year.

The NCAA Zone Diving Championships will be held in Christiansburg, Va., March 10-12. Minneapolis, Minn., will be the site of the NCAA Women’s Championship March 20-22, while the men’s national meet is to be held in Austin, Texas, March 27-29.

Admission to all home Virginia swimming and diving meets at the AFC are free to the public.
