UVa split a pair of ACC matches last weekend, falling at Maryland, 3-1, before rallying to defeat Pitt, 3-2. Senior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) became the fourth Cavalier to reach 1,500 career digs. She now has 1,512 in four years in Charlottesville.

The Orange (5-11, 0-4 ACC) have dropped five matches in a row, including a 3-0 loss to North Carolina and a 3-1 defeat to NC State last weekend. Silvi Uattara leads Syracuse with 3.13 kills per set.

It will be the first meeting between the schools as conference foes, but UVa leads the all-time series, 3-2. Virginia won the last meeting, 3-1, on Sept. 13, 2003 in Charlottesville.

The Eagles come into the weekend 8-8 on the season (0-4 ACC), after sweeps at the hands of the Tar Heels and Wolfpack last weekend. BC is led by Katty Workman, who averages 3.88 kills per set, and Madisen Lydon, averaging 3.89 digs per set.

Virginia holds a 13-3 all-time advantage over the Eagles, including an 8-0 record in Charlottesville.

Up next, the Cavaliers host North Carolina and NC State at Memorial Gymnasium Oct. 18 and 19. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. starts.
