Elly Buckley Earns Her Second ACC Player of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia forward Elly Buckley has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week after leading the Cavaliers to a 4-3 win over eighth-ranked Duke last Friday.
Buckley celebrated Virginia’s Senior Night by scoring three of the Cavaliers’ goals in a 4-3 victory. In addition to her hat trick, Buckley made a defensive save to up her ACC-leading total for the season to five. Buckley, one of eight Cavalier seniors honored in a postgame ceremony following the win, moved into third place on Virginia’s career points list with 179. Buckley, who has 46 points this season on 20 goals and six assists, leads the ACC in both points and goals.
The ACC Player of the Week accolade is the second of the season for the Scarborough, Perth, Australia native, who was also honored on Sept. 3.
