GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia volleyball freshman Jasmine Burton has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday (Nov. 11).

Burton (White Hills, Calif.) led the Cavaliers to a big 3-1 conference win against Miami on Saturday (Nov. 9) at Memorial Gymnasium, earning a match-high 22 kills on .300 hitting. The freshman outside hitter stuffed a block on the last point of the third set and had the Cavaliers’ first two kills of the fourth to give UVa the momentum. Burton tallied 12 kills and three blocks against No. 18 Florida State Friday evening (Nov. 8) in a four-set loss.

This is Burton’s second weekly award of the season, after Burton earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 3. It is the Cavaliers’ fourth weekly award this season, with junior Tori Janowski (Sterling, Va.) taking home conference Player of the Week honors on Sept. 3 and freshman Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) earning ACC Freshman of the Week accolades on Sept. 9.

The Cavaliers return to action this weekend (Nov. 15-16) when they travel to NC State and North Carolina.
