Virginia Plays at Notre Dame, Hosts Virginia Tech This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team travels to Notre Dame on Nov. 22 at 4:30 p.m., before hosting in-state rival Virginia Tech on Nov. 24 at 3 p.m.
Live statistics for the matches will be available and linked through VirginiaSports.com. Sunday’s match against Virginia Tech will be streamed live online at VirginiaSports.com as part of Cavaliers Live, UVa’s live audio and video streaming offering (subscription required).
Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.
Game-day parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).
UVa (15-13, 8-8 ACC) dropped two hard-fought matches last weekend (Nov. 15-16) at NC State (3-2) and then-No. 15 North Carolina (3-1). Freshman Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) is fourth place on the UVa freshman kills list with 383 for the season, while classmate Jasmine Burton (White Hills, Calif.) is sixth with 332 kills.
Senior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) is currently third on the all-time Cavalier digs’ list with 1,702. Sophomore Lauren Fuller (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) is second in the ACC with 11.17 assists per set and has the 10th-most assists in a UVa single season with 1,262.
The Irish (12-16, 6-11 ACC) defeated Virginia Tech, 3-1, Wednesday evening in Notre Dame, Ind. Jeni Houser leads Notre Dame, hitting .316 with 2.60 kills per set and 106 blocks on the season.
The Cavaliers won the first matchup of the season, 23-25, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-23, on Oct. 27 in Charlottesville to even up the all-time series, 1-1.
The Hokies (21-10, 9-8 ACC) fell at Notre Dame, 3-1, in their last match. Victoria Hamsher leads VT with a .412 hitting percentage that leads the conference and 2.62 kills per set.
Virginia picked up its first win over Virginia Tech since 2009 on Oct. 23, a 25-15, 30-28, 27-29 and 25-17 win in Blacksburg. UVa leads the all-time series, 30-28, and will look to earn a season sweep of the Hokies for the first time since 2005.
Up next, the Cavaliers host Pittsburgh and Maryland Nov. 29-30 to close out the regular season. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. starts.
