Virginia Closes Regular Season by Hosting Pitt, Maryland this Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team closes out the regular season this weekend (Nov. 29-30), hosting Pittsburgh and Maryland at Memorial Gymnasium. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. starts.
Live statistics will be available for both matches and linked through VirginiaSports.com. Both matches will be streamed live online at VirginiaSports.com as part of Cavaliers Live, UVa’s live audio and video streaming offering (subscription required).
Fans who attend Saturday’s UVa football game against Virginia Tech can bring their ticket stubs and receive free admission to Saturday’s volleyball match against Maryland (based on availability).
Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.
Game-day parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).
The Cavaliers (17-13, 10-8 ACC) defeated Notre Dame on the road, 3-0, on Friday (Nov. 22) before defeating Virginia Tech, 3-1, on Sunday (Nov. 24) in Charlottesville. The win over VT clinched a season sweep for UVa over the Hokies for the first time since 2005 and ensured Virginia will finish above .500 for the first time since 2008.
Freshman Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named ACC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after earning 11 kills and five blocks against the Hokies. Sophomore Natalie Bausback (Carlsbad, Calif.) hit an outstanding .509 for the weekend with 17 kills in each match out of the middle.
Senior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) has 1,725 digs in her career, the third-most in UVa history, and has 496 this season. Rottman is looking to become the sixth Cavalier to record 500 digs in a season.
Junior Tori Janowski (Sterling, Va.) currently has 442 kills this season, the ninth-most in Virginia single-season history. She needs 18 more to match Greta Jansson for eighth place.
Pitt (17-14, 9-9 ACC) comes into the weekend riding a four-match win streak. The Panthers are led by Jessica Wynn with 376 kills. The Cavaliers defeated Pitt, 3-2, in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Oct. 5.
Maryland (13-17, 5-13 ACC) enters the weekend with a four-match losing streak. Mary Cushman leads the Terps with 366 kills. Maryland was victorious earlier in the season, 3-1, on Oct. 4 in College Park, Md.
Before the match against Maryland, the Cavaliers will have a short ceremony to honor the team’s fourth-years.
