CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team hosts No. 18 Florida State and Miami this weekend (Nov. 8-9) at Memorial Gymnasium. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. starts.
Live statistics for both matches will be available and linked through VirginiaSports.com. Both matches will be streamed live online at VirginiaSports.com as part of Cavaliers Live, UVa’s live audio and video streaming offering (subscription required).
Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.
Home events for Virginia men’s basketball, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and volleyball will create traffic congestion in the area of those venues. Fans are advised to arrive early to avoid delays in attending any of these events. Game-day parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).
UVa (14-10, 7-5 ACC) is currently riding a four-match ACC win streak after defeating Georgia Tech (3-2) and Clemson (3-2) on the road last weekend (Nov. 1-2). The Cavaliers have won four consecutive ACC matches for the first time since 2006, when UVa picked up eight straight matches and finished 16-6 in conference play.
Freshman Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) moved up to fifth place on the UVa freshman kills’ list with 344 for the season. Senior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) is currently third on the all-time Cavalier digs’ list with 1,635.
The Seminoles (17-6, 10-2 ACC) defeated North Carolina (3-2) and NC State (3-0) last weekend to move into second in the conference standings. Nicole Walch leads FSU with 3.46 kills per set.
Florida State leads the all-time series, 33-14, and has won consecutive matchups, including 3-0 on Oct. 26, 2012 in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Hurricanes (15-7, 8-4 ACC) also defeated NC State (3-0) and North Carolina (3-2) to snap a four-match losing streak. Savanah Leaf leads the Hurricane attack with 3.89 kills per set.
Miami holds a 9-8 all-time advantage over the Cavaliers, including the last meeting, 3-0, on Oct. 27, 2012 in Coral Gables, Fla.
Up next, the Cavaliers travel to NC State and North Carolina next weekend (Nov. 15-16).
