LEXINGTON, Ky.—Virginia volleyball junior Tori Janowski and sophomore Lauren Fuller earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Coast Region Honorable Mention accolades, the AVCA announced Tuesday (Dec. 10).

This is the Cavaliers’ first all-region recognition since 2010 when McKenzie Adams was named AVCA East Region Freshman of the Year and Jessica O’Shoney earned all-region honorable mention accolades.

Fuller (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Janowski (Sterling, Va.) helped lead the Cavaliers to an 18-14 record in 2013, doubling its win total from 2012 (nine wins). UVa finished in a tie for fifth in the ACC with an 11-9 mark after winning just three conference matches the year before (3-17).

Janowski, listed on the All-ACC Third Team, returned to outside hitter a year after being the team’s setter in 2012 and notched a team-high 462 kills, 3.61 kills per set and 46 service aces (0.36). Her aces ranked third in the conference this year and her 3.61 kills per set ranks fourth on UVa’s single-season charts. The tally of 462 kills is eighth most in Cavalier history.

Fuller, who earned All-ACC Second Team honors, dished out 1,455 assists in her first season in Charlottesville after transferring from Arizona following her freshman season. The setter’s 1,455 assists rank as the sixth-most in Virginia single-season history. Fuller averaged 11.37 assists per set, which is the eighth-best mark on the Cavalier single-season list and was second most in the ACC this year.
