Colaprico & Menchel Named NSCAA Scholar All-Americans

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Two members of the Virginia women’s soccer team were honored Wednesday as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the 2013 Scholar All-America teams. Junior midfielder Danielle Colaprico (Freehold, N.J.) was named to the first team and senior defender Molly Menchel (Alexandria, Va.) was named to the second team.
Colaprico, a psychology major, started 24-of-26 games for the Cavaliers, posting five goals and 13 assists. She earned third-team NSCAA All-America honors and was a second-team All-ACC selection this season.
Menchel, also a psychology major, started every game for Virginia this season at left back. She was a second-team NSCAA All-Southeast Region and a third-team All-ACC honoree after posting six goals and six assists this season.
To be eligible for NSCAA Scholar All-America recognition, a player must start over 50 percent of their team’s games and have a cumulative grade-point average over 3.30.
