UVa Men's Golfers in Second Place at Palmetto Intercollegiate

Aiken, S.C. – The No. 7 Virginia men’s golf team is in second place following the opening two rounds of play at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C. The Cavaliers shot rounds of 290 and 287 for a first-day total of 577. Clemson leads the 18-team field at 571.
Virginia was led by freshman Derek Bard, who is tied for 2nd at 1-over 141 after carding rounds of 72 and 69. Nick McLaughlin is 10th at 145, Denny McCarthy is 20th at 146, Ben Rusch is 33rd at 148 and Jimmy Stanger is 47th at 150.
Clemson’s Austin Langdale leads the field at 2-under 138.
The final round of the tournament will be played Tuesday. The Palmetto Intercollegiate is the first of two Spring Break week tournaments for Virginia.
