UVa Finishes Day Two at ACC Men's Golf Tied for Seventh

New London, N.C. – The No. 8 Virginia men’s golf team is tied for seventh place after the second round of the ACC Championships at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. The Cavaliers improved their opening round performance by two strokes, finishing the second round with a score of 4-over 292. UVa’s 36-hole total of 10-over 586 has the Cavaliers tied with North Carolina for seventh place.
Georgia Tech took over the team lead, shooting 10-under 278 to finish the round at 566, two shots ahead of No. 19 Florida State. Clemson is in third place at 6-under 570 while Wake Forest is fourth at 3-under 573.
Virginia junior Denny McCarthy continues to lead the Cavaliers. He shot 1-under 71 for the second consecutive day to finish the round tied for sixth at 142. Ben Rusch also carded a 71 and moved up to 25th at 146.
UVa’s David Pastore enters the final round in 35th place at 5-over 149 following his 74 on Saturday. Ji Soo Park is in 44th place at 150 and Derek Bard is 50th at 152. Park shot 77 during the second round while Bard equaled his first round effort with a 76.
Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans continues to lead the field at 9-under 135. Wake Forest’s Clancy Waugh is in second place at 138.
The tournament concludes Sunday with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
