Virginia Softball Falls in Season Finale at Boston College, 4-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.—The Virginia softball team fell at Boston College, 4-1, in its 2014 season finale Sunday afternoon (April 27) at Shea Field. The Cavaliers finish the campaign with an 8-43 record (1-25 ACC), while the Eagles improved to 28-19 (12-11 ACC).
The Cavaliers broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when freshman Lindsay Mayer (Lincoln, R.I.) scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.).
The Eagles capitalized on two Cavalier errors in the sixth inning, scoring four runs including a Tatiana Cortez three-run home run to take a 4-1 lead.
Sophomore Aimee Chapdelaine (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), allowed six hits and four unearned runs in six innings of work in the loss (8-36).
BC’s Nicole D’Argento (17-12) pitched a complete game for the win, giving up an unearned run with four strikeouts.
