UVa Women's Golfers Finish Sixth at Mason Rudolph Championships

Sept. 21, 2014 Franklin, Tenn. – The Virginia women’s golf team placed sixth at the 15-team Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt’s Legends Club. The Cavaliers shot 30-over 894 including a final-round score of 11-over 299. Vanderbilt took the team title by shooting even par 864. LSU was second at 875.

The Cavaliers were led by Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.), who finished 16th overall at 222. She shot 5-over 77 during Sunday’s final round.

Four Virginia players tied for 30th place at 225. Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) led that group Sunday with a score of 1-under 71. Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) shot 78 while Briana Mao (Folsom, Calif.) finished with a 73 and Maho Hayakawa (Lake Mary, Fla.), playing as a non-scoring individual, shot 74 during the final round. Alex Hershberger (Basking Ridge, N.J.) placed 63rd at 235.

Vanderbilt’s Jenny Hahn took medalist honors by shooting 5-under 211. The Cavaliers will not return to tournament play until they compete in the Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 10-12 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
