The game had 10 lead changes and three ties through the first 14:11 of the game.

Ataira Franklin had three three-pointers in the first 11:05 of the game, starting the contest 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Faith Randolph had 11 points at the break, including hitting a key three-pointer with 1:15 left in the half, on her only attempt from long range in the period.

Virginia opened the second half on an 11-0 run.

The Cavaliers made seven of their first eight field goal attempts in the period, scoring on eight of their first 10 possessions (through the first six minutes of the half). Maryland started making five of nine field goal attempts.

Virginia took a nine-point lead, 59-50, on a jumper by Randolph with 10:21 reaming. Maryland scored six points in less than a minute to make it a three-point game again, 59-56 with 9:31 remaining. Virginia outscored Maryland 27-16 to close out the game.

It was Virginia’s first victory over a top-10 team since the 69-64 overtime victory over No. 3 Tennessee on Nov. 20, 2011.

This was the first time Virginia defeated ranked teams in back-to-back games since defeating No, 6 Duke (61-60) on Jan. 8, 1996 followed by a victory over No. 13 NC State (77-69) on Jan 12.

It was the first win over Maryland since the Cavaliers earned a 60-57 victory on Feb. 13, 2011 in College Park, and the first time UVa defeated Maryland in Charlottesville since an 89-81 game on Jan. 20, 2009.

This was the sixth time that the Cavaliers have upset a higher-ranked Maryland team.

Virginia leads the all-time series 44-37.

It was the second time this season five UVa players ended the game in double-figures. Also accomplished the feat against Louisiana Tech.

Kelsey Wolfe’s 24 points were a season-high and one shy of her career-high set last season at Minnesota (11/29/12).

It was the 12th 20-point performance by a Cavalier player this season.

Wolfe came into the game ranked second in the ACC in free throw percentage. She went 9-of-9 from the line, duplicating a performance she had last season at Penn (11/12/12). Wolfe is now 52-58 from the free throw line this season.The Cavaliers were 20-of-22 from the free throw line (90.9 percent), the first time shooting better than 90 percent from the stripe since going 12-of-13 at NC State last year 2/28/13).

Sarah Imovbioh was 5-of-5 from the field, the second time this season she was perfect. She went 4-of-4 against Princeton.

Imovbioh scored 12 points with five rebounds in only 14 playing minutes.

Lexie Gerson had 12 points, three rebounds, five steals and an assist.
