Virginia Falls in Season Finale, 3-0, at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y.–The Virginia volleyball team fell in its season finale, 25-22, 25-21 and 26-24, at Syracuse Friday evening (Nov. 28). The Cavaliers finished the season with a 17-14 record overall and 10-8 in ACC play.
The Orange (9-21, 2-16 ACC) led in hitting, .323-.248, and blocks, 9-1, while the Cavaliers had seven service aces to Syracuse’s five.
Junior Natalie Bausback (Carlsbad, Calif.) led UVa, hitting .619 with 15 kills and three service aces. Bausback finished the season with a .368 hitting percentage, the second-highest single-season mark in UVa history.
Senior Tori Janowski (Sterling, Va.) added 12 kills to finish her career with 1,202 kills, 10th-most in school history.
Junior Lauren Fuller (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) dished out 40 assists, while sophomore Lexi Riccolo (Wheaton, Ill.) led the team with 15 digs.
The Cavaliers fought off four set points in the first, but the Orange prevailed, 25-22. In the second, a Riccolo service ace tied the set at 20, but Syracuse won five of the next six points to win, 25-21.
In the third, UVa fought off three set points to tie the set at 24 before a service error and a block by Leah Levert and Monika Salkute to clinch the match, 26-24.
Silvi Uattara led the Orange with 16 kills on .361 hitting.
