CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia field hockey’s Tara Vittese was named both the State Player and Rookie of the Year on Friday with the release of the 2014 Virginia Sports Information Directors University Division All-State Field Hockey teams. Sophomore strike Caleigh Foust (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) joined Vittese on the VaSID All-State first team while senior back Kelsey LeBlanc (Haverford, Pa.) was named to the second team.

Vittese earned a spot on the All-American first team in her first collegiate campaign. She led the ACC and ranked top-10 in the NCAA in points per game (2.55), assists per game (0.85) and goals per game (0.85), scoring 51 points on 17 goals and 17 assists. Vittese was previously named the ACC Freshman of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-ACC first team.

Foust, an All-ACC second team member and a second-team All-South Region honoree, finished the regular-season tied for second in the ACC with 13 goals. Foust has scored three game-winning goals this season, all of which came in overtime victories over Louisville, Rutgers and Albany. This is her first career All-Region accolade.

LeBlanc also was named to the All-ACC second team, her first career All-ACC accolade. LeBlanc, who has played as a defensive midfielder in every game this season, scored her lone goal of the year in the victory at No. 1 North Carolina. LeBlanc finished her career in November by playing in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game.
