Cavalier Swimmers Finish Action at Virginia Tech Invitational

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va.-The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving won three events on the final day of the Virginia Tech Invitational Sunday (Feb. 8) at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
In the women’s 100 fly, sophomore Erin McElfresh (Moravia, N.Y.) won in a time of 56.08, while McElfresh also captured the 200 fly in 2:03.51.
Fellow sophomore Robert Leasure (Louisville, Ky.) had the fastest time in the men’s 400 IM in 4:00.31 and finished second in the men’s 200 back in 1:49.62.
Freshman Laine Reed (Austin, Texas) placed second in the women’s 100 free in 50.32, while senior Brodde Lamb (Charlottesville, Va.) touched second in the women’s 100 breast in 1:03.46. Freshman Salem Peacock (Jacksonville, Fla.) was second in the women’s 200 back in 2:06.02.
Next up, the Cavaliers will compete in the ACC Championships in Atlanta. The women’s swimming and diving meet and men’s diving portion will be contested Feb. 18-21, while the men’s swimming events will be held Feb. 25-28.
